About Greenwood Hardware
A fixture of Seattle’s Greenwood neighborhood since 1948.
Founded in 1948 and a fixture of Greenwood, Seattle. Known for courteous & friendly service and a wide selection of green products — lawn & garden, housewares, paint, electrical & plumbing — along with water heater servicing and installation.
Greenwood Hardware (originally Gowan’s Hardware & Glass) was founded in 1948 by Ron & Helen Gowan, who ran the business until 1977. It was then purchased by Ron & Robin Lewis, who continue to be long-time residents of Greenwood/Phinney Ridge. Under their ownership the store became a member of the True Value buyer’s co-op and did business as Greenwood TrueValue Hardware.
In 1999, Mike & Endang Radice became the third owners. Willow Yoder came to the team in 2003. Under the Radices’ ownership and Willow’s management, the store weathered two remodels and the 2007 recession.
In March 2020, James & Willow Yoder purchased Greenwood Hardware, beginning their journey during a full-blown pandemic. Greenwood Hardware is the biggest little hardware store in Seattle — with community-oriented staff, some of whom date back to the second owners, and the whole Yoder family.
Greenwood Hardware specializes in products to meet the needs of all our neighbors. Whether you live in a condo, apartment, craftsman home, or new construction, we have what you need, along with knowledgeable staff to make your space just right.
