Greenwood Hardware Employee Spotlight – Bill Whalen

We simply cannot say enough about our amazing staff members here at Greenwood Hardware. They are truly family and make our store that much better with their helpful presence!

Bill Whalen

Known as “the clean behind the team”, Bill has been working for Greenwood Hardware for over 12 years.  He makes your shopping experience one to enjoy.  He cleans the merchandise, shelving, bathrooms, windows and doors til they sparkle.  Wherever he goes there is cleaner being spritzed in the air!  Moreover, Bill has a knack of making sure the employees stay on the playful side, with his constant joking banter.

Bill was born in Clinton, Iowa and is the youngest of 6 siblings.  He is an athletic guy and maintains an active schedule as a Special Olympics competitor with gold medals in both district and state. Along with that, he loves to travel.  Over the years Bill has been to just about every state and parts of Canada and Indonesia.  Since moving to Washington in 2001, Bill has become a regular on the Friendship Adventures sponsored trips and activities.  Bill loves animals and the outdoors.

On his days off, Bill travels the city by bus and gets around like its nobody’s business.  He likes riding the light rail on Saturdays and enjoys the freedom of riding the metro bus throughout King County.
Bill enjoys downtown Seattle and getting to know Bellevue, where he recently moved.  He lives a relaxed life of swimming daily, as well as keeping up on the weather and local politics. When asked what he is doing for the weekend his answer is always, “playin’ it by ear.”

Hats (and gold medals) off to Bill for his many dust bunny searches! Great job Bill!
